John Edward (Ted) Henderson, 86, passed peacefully on Friday November 16, 2018. Ted will be greatly missed by his loving wife Mary Ellen (nee Carruthers), daughter Joy, son Eric, his wife Lisa and grandchildren Meghan and Ryan, as well as his brothers Robert and David and sister Donna of Florida. Ted's distinguished career as a structural engineer included work on a hydroelectric dam in Pakistan as well as a position as site engineer for the construction of the roof of the Skydome in Toronto. Considered one of the top glider pilots in Canada, he was past president of the Montreal Soaring Council. A world traveler, Ted lived a life of adventure. We’ll miss his hearty laughter, patient smile, and love of mischief. A celebration of his life will take place on December 1, 2018 at the McKersie-Kocher Funeral Home 114 Main Street East, (905) 878-4452 in Milton, Ontario. The visitation will take place at 11:00am followed by a service at 12:00pm. Donations in his memory can be made to the Townsend Smith Foundation (https://www.townsend-smith.ca) which is working to build a Hospice in Milton.
